Dog Days

Since we've had Sophie, Christian and I realized that we have less and less time for Warrick (our pet Shih-tzu). Not that Warrick complains out loud, as he is one of the calmest dogs around, but still. In my mind he is silently humf-ing that he is being left out of play time and cuddle time when he sees/hears/smells us with Sophie. He looks especially wounded when he looks at me holding Sophie as she feeds. His big, round eyes cause enough guilt to compete with a Weight Watcher's after he/she has eaten a Krispy Kreme doughnut.

As a result, we spend what time we could to engage him and show him he is still a part of our lives. Christian still walks with him and Sophie and we both cuddle him at night, when Sophie is asleep. I have also lately taken to expressing milk in the early morning in the living room downstairs, and he follows me for a cuddle, just the two of us.

A lot of people will say that we're going through a lot of trouble for a dog - and they might be right. Still, I think it's worth it - after all, Warrick brought Christian and me closer together, and we have so many wonderful memories (to come) to thank him for.

Thanks Baby-Boy Warrick!
